 Many of us have great curosity to know about Indian Mythology and if we get to know more about them, then it would be like some extra butter on pao-bhaji. Therefore, here are some of the fascinating and hidden facts about Indian Mythology.

1. Lord Parasurama is the only avatar of Vishnu who lived to see the other two Avatars of Vishnu- Rama and Krishna, because he is a Chiranjeevi.


2. In the epic, Mahabharat Bishma Pitamah was so powerful and minacious(खतरनाक) that he almost made Lord Krishna break his promise of not participating in the war!

3. According to the Indian mythology, during Samudramanthan(समुद्रमंथन), Lord Dhanvantari appeared with Amrita(अमृता) in one hand. Considering it an auspicious thing to happen, the day Dhanteras was named after him. He is also called an incarnation (अवतार) of Lord Vishnu and the physician of gods.

4. Hinduism actually believes in only one god, but in many forms.

5. 108 is a sacred number in Hinduism and it is considered auspicious.

6. Buddhism and Sikhism were both derived from Hinduism.

7. The word 'AUM' is a holy word of Hindu religion and it represents three lords i.e. Vishnu, Brahman and Shiva.
